Cool With A "K" PART 28 - CHAPTER 10

As people were beginning to come into Kathy's 6th hour class, English, Kathy sat alone at a table.
Jenny came over and sat down next to her.
"Hey, Kathy," Jenny said in her soft, gentle tone, "I saw you this morning just before 1st period and you looked... Upset."
"No s--t, Sherlock." Kathy said without looking at her.
Jenny folded her hands on the table and said softly, "Is there anything I can do to help you?"
Kathy looked up at Jenny and stared at her for a long, long time.
Finally, Kathy said, "You've done enough." and she got up and moved to another table.
Jenny sat in her place, silently biting her lip. She took a deep breath and shakily let it out again. Hesitantly, Jenny stood up and walked over to where Kathy was sitting.
"Why have I done enough?" Jenny asked her, her voice shaking.
Kathy looked up at her and didn't say anything.
"I've done enough by loving you?" Jenny said, choking back tears, "I've done enough by admitting that I have a crush on a girl? Is that it?"
Kathy still didn't say anything and her face fell. She was surprised.
"Well, I'm sorry for making your life so difficult, Kathy." Jenny said quietly, still trying not to cry, "If it will make it easier, then I will get out of your life."
Jenny turned and walked to a table on the other side of the room.
Kathy stared at her with her mouth hanging open, but she remained silent.
Mr. Sullivan came into the room with a muffin, which he stuffed down his shirt. He stood at the front of the room, chewing the muffin he had in his mouth, and said, "Okay, so time for class, kids."
The class turned their attention to Mr. Sullivan and he picked up a piece of chalk. Mr. Sullivan wrote the day's agenda on the board and said, his mouth still full, "So, we've been reading... Uhh..."
"The Scarlet Letter." Hilary, the president of the volunteering committee, said.
"Yeah, that's right." Mr. Sullivan said. He pulled a piece of muffin from his shirt and ate it. The class silently watched in disgust as Mr. Sullivan casually went on with his lecture.
Kathy sat at her table with one thought on her mind.

Jenny is in love with me?
